The Alton and Greater Godfrey Democrats successfully hosted their 45th Annual Banquet on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Alton VFW. The event brought together community members, elected officials, and supporters for an evening of connection, celebration, and renewed commitment to Democratic values.

Guests began arriving at 5 p.m., with the program officially starting at 6 p.m. The banquet featured a full dinner, a 50/50 raffle, a wine‑pull raffle, and opportunities for attendees to meet one another, share ideas, and strengthen local engagement.

This year’s theme — “Awakening and Reconnecting the Democratic Party” — guided the evening’s message. Organizer Carolyn Caruthers emphasized the importance of bridging generations and rebuilding community ties.

“It was about awakening and reconnecting the Democratic Party — bridging the gap between the old and the young, empowering each other, collaborating, mentorship, community service, and getting back to the roots of why the Dems are here for the people,” Caruthers said.

A key focus of the banquet was encouraging younger residents to get involved in local politics and civic life. Caruthers noted that voter turnout has declined in recent years, and the event aimed to re‑energize participation across the region.

“It’s not only what we want to see for the party, but what the community wants from the party,” she said. “The Democratic Party is for the people. Their voice matters. The everyday working‑class people — that’s what we’re here for.”

Attendees were encouraged to stay connected with the Alton and Greater Godfrey Democrats for future events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to support local candidates.

“You want to meet your candidates? You want to be around like‑minded individuals? You want to be in the room to listen to change, to be the change, to be a part of the change?” Caruthers added. “This banquet was the place to be.”
